Quincy Cuvée Terroir Nouzats 2021

(Price per bottle: sent in boxes of 6 bottles)

The vines of the Nouzats in Brinay, planted at the end of the fifties, are rooted in very deep red sandy gravels. Part of the massal selections planted on our vineyard comes from this plot.

The wines reach developed maturities, expressing ripe fruit and soft and exotic roundness.

In line with Sucellus and the Vieilles Vignes, the Terroirs Collection is declined in 4 distinct vintages, each of them coming from a plot of old vines and vinified in oak barrels aged from 7 to 8 years, using wild yeasts.

Wine tasting notes

A flattering nose, notes of well ripe white fruit and of acacia honey, of hazelnuts and salted butter. A greedy flesh in the mouth, a delicate tangy finish that leaves a nice impression of freshness.

« The wine has a pale lemon-yellow color. The nose is delicate and fresh. It expresses subtle floral (hawthorn, fresh lime blossom), lemony (fresh lemon, lime, lemon zest) aromas, as well as notes of green apple, green plum, white peach and fine vegetal (cucumber) and refreshing herbaceous hints (verbena, tomato leaf). There are also very subtle spicy notes (white pepper, nutmeg) in the background. On the palate, the wine offers good structure, high acidity, as well as fruity substance and a subtle spiciness. It expresses notes of ripe citrus (yellow lemon, blood orange), citrus jam, white peach, combined with floral (linden, acacia), slightly herbaceous (verbena) and spicy (nutmeg, a touch of vanilla on the finish). Good tangy persistence with citrus notes, and a herbaceous touch of tomato leaf in the background. Beautiful freshness thanks to a
salivating acidity. Score : 15.25/20 (90/100) » (Vert de Vin n°23, July 2023)

« I’m not sure I’d have recognised this as Sauvignon Blanc, if I’d been given it blind. Rich on the nose: honeysuckle; Sarcococca (sweetbox) perfume; quince. A firm central line that tastes as if lemon pith had been turned into white marble – minerality, maybe, but whatever it is, it seems to form the spine of the wine more than the acidity does. There are bitter-orange citrus notes pulling strong and long through the wine; clementines and smoked honey; a saline tensility through baked-apple richness; and yet those honeysuckle blossoms keep dancing like fireflies over the fruit. Distinctive, strong and dramatic, but not without something fine and fragile threading a lightness and lift through the wine. Rather stunning, but as far as Loire Sauvignons go, walking the outer boundary of ‘freshness’ – it’s moving in the direction of Rhône, Viognier-like richness. » Reviewer: Tamlyn Currin – Score: 17 points (Jancis Robinson, February 10th 2023)
